2020 NFL Draft: Dolphins pass on Tua in this first-round mock draft
After a 12-4 season in 2018, the expectations were high for the Los Angeles Chargers. Sitting at 5-9 with two games to go, the playoffs aren’t in the cards for them. Quarterback Philip Rivers has had a dreadful season, and with his contract expiring after the season, it might be time for the Chargers to move on. Even if they don’t, it’s finally time to look for a quarterback early in the 2020 NFL Draft.
It just so happens that in this mock draft that Tua Tagovailoa is still available. Now, there are still plenty of questions surrounding Tua. For one, he hasn’t declared for the draft. Second, and more importantly, no one knows how his rehab is going and how his medicals will check out at the combine if he declares.
At this point, the Chargers should take the risk with Tua. His ability as a quarterback is second to none in the 2020 NFL Draft, as long as he’s healthy enough to play. Yes, even over Burrow. Tua was incredible before his injury, showing accuracy to all levels of the field and a more than competent arm. He was improving a lot with his pocket awareness in 2019, something that was a question coming in. Sit Tua behind Tyrod Taylor until he’s healthy, then watch him dominate in LA.
