The New York Jets may have a hard decision between taking a top offensive lineman in the first round or giving Sam Darnold a true number one receiver.

There was optimism from New York Jets fans heading into the 2019 season and for good reason. Sam Darnold was heading into his second year in the NFL along with a new head coach in Adam Gase that many have called an offensive innovator.

However, after a week one collapse to the Buffalo Bills which saw their newly signed star linebacker C.J. Mosley leave the game early with a groin injury, everything took a turn. Later that week Adam Gase broke the internet when he said the Jets starting quarterback would be out indefinitely due to mononucleosis.

Nothing has gone the Jets way this season. There has been a long list of injuries that have forced the Jets talent evaluators to step up their game and find some diamond in the roughs. After Kelechi Osemele went down with a shoulder injury and was released in a very messy situation Alex Lewis stepped in at left guard and has been playing pretty well.

After Mosley went down with a groin injury rookie Blake Cashman started in his place and showed some promise before a shoulder injury placed him on IR. The Jets were left with Neville Hewitt and practice squad member James Burgess Jr. and they have stepped up big time for Gregg Williams’ defense.

The New York Jets still have a ton of holes to fill on both sides of the both and are hopeful they can find some key players in the draft. The biggest decision will come in the first round as the Jets could have the option of taking a top offensive tackle to protect Darnold or giving him a true number one receiver.
