Atlanta Falcons 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Free of Freeman
By the time the 2020 NFL season begins, the Atlanta Falcons will have a 35-year-old as their starting quarterback and a 39-year-old as their backup. While Matt Ryan certainly has a couple of good years left, I think the Falcons would be wise to take a shot on a late-round signal-caller to add some youthful competition to the mix.
So for the first time since 2013, the Atlanta Falcons draft a quarterback and take Iowa’s Nate Stanley with their final pick of this 2020 NFL mock draft.
Going into the 2019 season, Stanley had a chance to put his name up there with the top quarterbacks in the draft but inconsistent play and a lack of production this year has really taken the air out of his stock.
That being said, there is still a lot to like about his potential at the next level.
In three years as the Hawkeyes starter, Stanley has totaled over 8,000 yards through the air and has a 66 to 23 touchdown to interception ratio. He has a fearlessness in the pocket, displays solid arm strength and can at times wow you with his touch.
At 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds, Stanley is the prototype NFL quarterback with a lot of likable traits that could make a lot of sense for the Falcons, if he’s available, with their seventh-round pick of the 2020 NFL draft.
