With the rise of offensive tackle Josh Jones, let’s have a look at five potential NFL teams who could be eyeing the Houston product for the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 2020 NFL Draft has quite a few big-name offensive tackles that are receiving a lot of attention so far this season. Guys such as Georgia’s Andrew Thomas and Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs headline the class, while others including Alabama’s Jedrick Wills have risen up boards in recent weeks. Another player who has seen their stock rise recently is Houston offensive tackle, Josh Jones.

A three-star recruit coming out of high school according to 24/7 Sports, Jones redshirted his freshman year in 2015 but was able to start all 13 games the following year. In, 2017 Jones started in 10 games for the Cougars, missing two with an apparent knee injury. However, Jones has managed to stay relatively healthy in the past two seasons, starting every game in 2018 and 2019.

Jones has quickly become one of my favorite players to watch for the 2020 NFL Draft. In pass protection, Jones mirrors edge rushers very well, gliding with ease while keeping a good anchor, oftentimes putting guys on their backs. While Jones still has some work to do in his run game, as I don’t think his technique is quite where it needs to be.

However, Jones is currently my top Day 2 offensive tackle, who could potentially slip into the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Analysts have noted that if Jones has a great Senior Bowl week, then that could come to fruition.

Currently, there are plenty of NFL teams who could potentially give Jones the call in April, making all the more valuable. In this post, we are going to look at five specific teams who should consider making Jones a priority in the 2020 NFL Draft.
