Pick Analysis. QB. Alabama. Scouting Report. Tua Tagovailoa. 1. player. 829

In this mock draft, the Panthers hold the 11th overall pick and use it to take a chance on Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Obviously, with his hip injury, Tagovailoa is a major wildcard, and honestly, a massive risk as a first-round selection. That being said, if the hip checks out, he could be a massive steal for the Panthers in this range.

More from Mock Drafts

Tagovailoa is still the same quarterback who has everything that you could want out of a franchise signal-caller. He still has plenty of arm strength, moves well in and out of the pocket and can place the ball on a dime.

Tagovailoa is incredibly accurate to all levels of the field and understands how to put the proper touch on his throws. He places the ball extremely well and does a fantastic job of protecting his receivers with his throws.

The durability concerns are real, but the Panthers seem like a team ready to take a risk. Taking Tagovailoa is the ultimate high-risk, high-reward move that could quickly turn the Panthers’ fortunes around if it works out well.

In this scenario, the Panthers would likely trade either Newton or Allen, but probably not both. They could commit to one of these guys as the quarterback in 2020, keeping Tagovailoa on the shelf until 2021. They could also trade Newton, start Tagovailoa right away and keep Allen around as a backup plan. Regardless of what they decide to do, the Carolina Panthers would have options.

Whether Tagovailoa is ready to play right away or not, the Panthers are in a great position to take him and make the most out of what he can do. If he is available when they go on the clock, the Panthers have to consider making Tagovailoa their selection.
