2020 NFL Draft: CeeDee Lamb is WR1 in this first-round mock draft
Go and take a look at the current wide receiver depth chart for the Oakland Raiders right now. How many of those guys do you think would be legit starters on most other teams? How many of those guys have you even heard of? Oakland suffered from the bizarre offseason of Antonio Brown and have yet to fill the void he left with top-notch talent.
The Raiders have to face the Kansas City Chiefs and Tyreek Hill twice a year. Don’t you think Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden would love to be able to bring in a guy like that? Here is their chance. Like Hill, Henry Ruggs III is an absolute burner who can fly right by the defense and make 50+ yard touchdowns look easy.
Ruggs might just set some 40-yard dash records at the 2020 NFL Draft Combine this year. He has that type of speed. Track-like speed combined with a background in basketball, Ruggs is an elite athlete who can jump out of the stadium.
While deep passes and jump balls are where Ruggs excels, don’t underestimate his hands and route-running ability. He has very soft hands everywhere on the field and continues to develop his route tree every game. He is a real weapon that can score from anywhere on the field.
With their move to Las Vegas, the Raiders could add a little flair to their “show”. Ruggs would bring that element to their offense. Give Derek Carr another weapon to throw to and see just how far this team can go. Oakland seems to have hit with an Alabama playmaker in the first round last year, why not give it another go with Henry Ruggs III in the 2020 NFL Draft.
