Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill has officially declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

I’m sure many are wondering if all the underclassmen running backs got together and decided to declare all in one week, and it’s certainly possible! The latest running back to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft is Mississippi State’s Kylin Hill, posting a message earlier today on Twitter.

Hill had a breakout junior season after posting over six yards per carry as a sophomore in 2018. He posted 1347 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns on 235 carries, good for 5.7 yards per tote. Hill was active in the passing game again, catching 17 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown in 2019.

Hill is joining a loaded running back class, but don’t expect him to fade away into the 2020 NFL Draft class. At 5’11” and 215 pounds, Hill is a densely packed running back and packs a punch as a runner. He thrives off of contact as a runner and often seeks it out, which reminds me of Packers running back Jamaal Williams.

Hill is also a great mover laterally, and has good explosion out of his cuts and when he hits the hole.

While having that ability between the tackles is a runner is important, Hill is also a very good pass catcher and is asked to do a lot more in the passing game than most of the top backs in the class. His numbers don’t jump off the page, but the potential on tape is there.

Something else to note is his athletic ability, which is expected to be very good come the NFL Scouting Combine.

There aren’t too many knocks on Hill, but a couple to watch are his long speed and vision. His thirst for contact sometimes takes priority over finding openings, and he doesn’t have the ability to outrun the secondary and erase angles.

That said, with the knocks very minimal right now, Kylin Hill is a talented back with a lot of potential at the next level.
