OT. Iowa. 7. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Tristan Wirfs. player. 32

Kliff Kingsbury wants to build the Arizona Cardinals offense around the quick passing game. This means that the offensive line does not need to be elite. That being said, it needs to be better than it has been. Kyler Murray has been running for his life all season long and he is never going to reach his ceiling unless the protection gets better.

Kingsbury may not ever want to take an offensive lineman this high, but if he is willing to bend a bit, I think it would greatly benefit the Cardinals going forward. It helps that Tristan Wirfs is still on the board. When it is all said I done, I would not be surprised if Wirfs ends up being the first offensive lineman selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Andrew Thomas is considered to be the top lineman in the class by most, but Wirfs is a more well-rounded player who probably has a higher ceiling. Wirfs has an incredible combination of power and athleticism that gives him obvious upside at the next level.

Just like Thomas, he dominates at the point of attack and is an elite people mover. Personally, I think Wirfs moves better than Thomas, getting out of his stance quicker and showing the ability to mirror speed rushers on the edge even better.

Wirfs is a bit inconsistent as a pass protector, sometimes not seeing the blitz correctly and picking up the wrong player. However, his skill set is legit. It does not matter if you need a right or left tackle, Wirfs can come in and lead an offensive line for many years. The Cardinals need to make some significant improvements up front and adding Wirfs would be a major step in the right direction.
