2020 NFL Draft: Jerry Jeudy slides in this three-round NFL mock draft
Alex Leatherwood has fantastic at left tackle for Alabama this season and was tremendous for the team at right guard last year. He is a big man who moves extremely well for an offensive lineman, shining as both a run blocker and pass protector.
The offensive line is not a huge immediate need for the Green Bay Packers, but they are thin up front and could lose starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga in free agency. Leatherwood could probably play any offensive line position other than center, making him an intriguing target for the Packers.
The New Orleans Saints are one of the best teams in the NFL and do not have many flaws on their roster. With that in mind, I considered giving them a quarterback to eventually replace Drew Brees here but decided that a defensive playmaker makes more sense.
Kenneth Murray is an extremely active and athletic linebacker prospect who roams the field well and makes plays from sideline-to-sideline. He is an absolute tackling machine, showing a nose for the ball and a great ability to work through traffic and make plays in the middle of the field.
He has the speed and athleticism to be a good coverage linebacker but does not seem to be great in that area. Murray is decent as a short zone defender but struggles in man-to-man. That being said, he has proven to be a big-time playmaker in the blitz game, hammering the A-gap quickly and winning on the pass rush using an impressive combination of speed and power.
Murray needs to improve in coverage in order to reach his full upside, but he has the talent to make that happen. With this pick, the Saints find themselves a long-term leader of their defense.
