2020 NFL Draft order: Detroit Lions join the top 5 party
The 2020 NFL Draft order is only three weeks away from being finalized. The Detroit Lions jumped into the top five of the order after Sunday’s loss.
The 2020 NFL Draft order is by no means finalized as we have teams shuffling in and out of the top 10 picks every week at this point.
This past Sunday, the Detroit Lions their sixth straight game and joined the top five overall picks, leap-frogging the Atlanta Falcons.
Eight teams now have nine losses or more including the Lions, who also have a tie on their record with the Arizona Cardinals, who are also 3-9-1. There are currently five teams in the NFL that have lost their last five games or more, including the Lions and Cardinals.
One team that has yet to play their week 14 contest is the New York Giants, currently with the longest losing streak (8 games) in the entire NFL. The Giants have Eli Manning back in the starting lineup with Daniel Jones going down with an ankle injury. The Giants are playing the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, and the Eagles are also on the cusp of a possible top 10 draft choice.
If the Giants win, they will still hold the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. If they lose, they’ll be that much closer to the Cincinnati Bengals in contention for the top overall pick.
Here’s the updated 2020 NFL Draft order after Sunday’s action (changes in the top 10 picks listed in bold).

We have a fascinating situation brewing as every team from picks 14-18 has the same record and the same opponent win percentage. I don’t know how unprecedented it would be for five teams to finish with a tie at the end of the season in terms of draft standing, but it would be fun to see a five-way coin flip.
With the way the Lions have been playing lately, it would be shocking if they don’t have a top-five pick by season’s end. Detroit has suffered so many tough injuries this year and it could ultimately result in a changing of the guard there, not only with Matt Patricia as head coach but with Matthew Stafford as the quarterback.
