2020 NFL mock draft: Burrow or Young at No. 1? How far does Tua fall?
By Evan Bachman
It’s becoming increasingly obvious that Tampa Bay needs to move on from Jamies Winston as their franchise quarterback. Through 12 games, Jameis has thrown an NFL leading 20 interceptions on the season. It really is a shame because he has a lot of talent, but you can’t win games in the NFL with a quarterback who throws so many picks.
This is an offense with a lot of potential if they can find the right guy to place under center. Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are two of the best receivers in the NFL right now. Giving them a quarterback who can air it out without turning the ball over to work with, could turn this offense into one of the NFL’s best.
Herbert has the best physical traits of any quarterback in this draft with great size (6-6, 237 lbs), athleticism, and arm strength. The biggest issue with him is consistency, which was shown recently when he completed just 55.6% of his passes in a loss to Arizona State.
In 12 games this season, Herbert has completed 67.5% of his passes for 3140 yards, 31 touchdowns and five interceptions. It’s obvious that whoever takes Herbert will have to be patient with him and give him time to develop.
