This podcast features a lot packed into a short episode! First, Jake breaks the news that a draft guide could be in the works at FanSided and NFL Mocks for the upcoming draft (2:30), and then the guys break down the first declarations for the 2020 NFL Draft (3:15). Also, they still don’t know how to pronounce Yetur Gross-Matos (3:30).

The Mock Draft

The guys go through the first round alternating picks in this 2020 mock draft.

The first picks in the mock draft start out as expected, with Joe Burrow heading to Cincinnati and Chase Young joining the New York Giants. Then, Washington heads in a different direction with the third pick, selecting Jeffrey Okudah (11:15). A discussion followed regarding the state of the tackle class, where Nate isn’t so sure that there’s a surefire elite player (11:50).

Then, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa heads to Miami with the fourth pick, as they can’t pass that up (14:30).

A couple of interesting pairings show up midway through, with the Buccaneers taking K’Lavon Chaisson (28:13) and the Panthers ushering in a new era at quarterback, selecting Justin Herbert (29:30).

A wide receiver finally comes off the board as Oakland takes Henry Ruggs III (32:42). Before the “that would never happen” crowd comes roaring in, remember how deep this 2020 NFL Draft class is at wide receiver. Many teams could end up waiting. The Jaguars also end up with a great haul, getting both Isaiah Simmons and CeeDee Lamb.

Nate announces his favorite player to say, Yetur Gross-Matos, with the Titans’ pick (36:10).

Then, the ultimate betrayal happens in the 20s. Jake and Nate make an agreement where Jake gets both Miami picks in the 20s, with Nate snatching up an elite player with the Chiefs right before the Dolphins second pick, leading to fun banter (40:44).
