Seventh pick

Jason Strowbridge. 87. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DE. North Carolina. 174. player

Jason Strowbridge is a 6’4″, 285-pound interior defensive lineman out of North Carolina. Strowbridge has shined this past season as an interior pass rusher for the Tar Heels.

Strowbridge has shown a high motor and ability to pass-rush from both the 3 and 5 technique and works his way to the quarterback. His hand usage is simplistic, but effective and provides enough leverage to gain an edge on offensive linemen. Strowbridge has had numerous sacks off of long-term pressure (coverage sacks) thanks to his high motor and produces best against the pass from the 5 technique.

Strowbridge has not shown tremendous positives against the run, but is by no means a handicap. Strowbridge will likely be able to contribute throughout his first year as a situational 3rd-down pass rusher from the 3 and 5 technique, adding some feistiness and aggression to the Carolina line.

Alongside fellow rookie Derrick Brown and all-pro Gerald McCoy, Strowbridge would have his opportunities in plenty of one-on-one situations while his teammates are occupied. These pass-rushing chances would be the best showcase of his motor and pursuit.
