Sixth pick

ILB. Cal. Evan Weaver. 142. Pick Analysis. 87. Scouting Report. player

Evan Weaver may be one of the most electrifying linebackers in the 2019 NFL draft, not because of hyper-athleticism but because of his constant motor and physical tackling. Weaver comes in at 6’3″, 245 pounds and racked up an incredible 159 tackles in his junior year.

Luke Kuechly could use some help at linebacker in Carolina’s defense, and Weaver is the man to do it. Kuechly will have the opportunity to act as a mentor to the young linebacker and teach him the mental parts of the game that have made Kuechly so successful.

Weaver possesses the mindset and physical ability to make it at the next level, he will just need to hone his skills. Kuechly should be more than welcome to new linebackers alongside Shaq Thompson, and additions like Weaver can help rebrand this defense.
