2019 NFL All-Rookie Team: The Faces of the Future
By Ian Higgins
Devin Bush, LB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Through 12 games, Devin Bush currently has 86 tackles, four pass defenses, and two interceptions as a leader on a young Pittsburgh defense.
Overall, the Steelers have struggled due to a combination of issues, but have had promise shown on the defensive side of the ball. Bush has elite athleticism to reach from boundary-to-boundary and has replaced the void left by Ryan Shazier. Alongside Minkah Fitzpatrick and Cameron Heyward, this Steelers’ defense has a future.
Devin White, LB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Through the 2019 season, Devin White has had 69 tackles, three pass defenses, and an interception.
White, like Bush, has elite range for the position and can make plays anywhere on the field. White has also had a presence in Tampa Bay’s pass-rushing, having five quarterback hits and 2.5 sacks this season. White is the cornerstone of Tamp Bay’s defense and will continue to be with imminent turnover expected this offseason.
Blake Cashman, LB, New York Jets
After the injury of C.J. Mosley, Blake Cashman has been a quality backup to shore up the Jets linebacking corps. In seven games, Cashman has had 40 tackles and provided a boost for a maimed Jets defense.
Cashman is not supposed to be a starting linebacker this season, but has been pushed into the role and shown promise for the future. Cashman is a smart linebacker with a great understanding of football that helps to make plays and stifle offenses.
