2020 NFL Draft: How far does Tua Tagovailoa fall in first-round mock draft?
It’s hard to consider eighth overall a “fall” for a wide receiver nowadays, but Jerry Jeudy is such a great prospect that it seems that way here. Jeudy is regarded as a top-five prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft by many evaluators and has the potential to become one of the best wide receivers in the league.
While Jeudy has been slightly overshadowed this season at Alabama by another receiver who I have going later in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Jeudy is still the most polished and prepared NFL prospect in this class.
Jeudy is the crispest route runner than has come out of college in years. He can cut on a dime and leave his defender in the dust. Once he has the ball in his hands, he is a threat to take it to the house every time. Jeudy finished third in the NCAA last season with 14 receiving touchdowns.
He is explosive when the ball is snapped and can quickly run right by his defender. He uses his head and eyes very well to throw off the defender and get him off balance. Kyler Murray would love a reliable receiver like Jeudy to throw to going forward.
Unfortunately, Larry Fitzgerald will have to hang it up sometime soon, and while Christian Kirk has played well when on the field this season, the Cardinals are going to need another playmaker on the outside. The best receiver of the draft class would do just fine here at eight.
It is clear that Arizona wants to give Murray everything that they can for him to succeed, and Jeudy would be a very welcomed sight by Murray and coach Kliff Kingsbury. While they have a plethora of other needs that will have to be addressed if they want to compete in the tough NFC West, the Cardinals get a lot better by taking the best player on the board at this point in the 2020 NFL Draft.
