2020 NFL Draft: How far does Tua Tagovailoa fall in first-round mock draft?
This pairing just makes perfect sense to me. Is Jalen Hurts the next Lamar Jackson? I’m not going that far. Can he be a better version of Marcus Mariota and a younger option than Ryan Tannehill with a higher ceiling? Absolutely.
Hurts plays a very similar style to both Mariota and Tannehill. All very effective runners, Hurts maybe be even more effective on the ground and through the air than both of the current quarterback options in Tennessee. Using what has worked for them since Tannehill has taken over and mixing in a little of what Baltimore is doing with Jackson this season, the Titans could do something with Jalen Hurts if they select him in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Hurts has been incredibly impressive as a passer this season. Everyone knew he could run the ball, but Lincoln Riley’s offense is bringing out the best in Hurts as a pass-first QB. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray have been playing well at the next level, so I don’t see why Hurts can’t continue his success at the next level as well. Particularly in a spot that already runs a similar style of offense.
Like the Raiders, the Jaguars go wide receiver then corner here in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Jacksonville acquired this pick when they sent Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams. Trading away arguably the best cornerback in the league opens up a need at that position.
Paulson Adebo is the best on the board in this spot in my opinion. Another lanky, physical, but raw cornerback prospect, Adebo has the potential to become one of the best in the league. Like Trevon Diggs, Adebo spent some time as a receiver and is still learning the nuances of the position.
Even with little experience, Adebo has been productive in his two seasons at corner for Stanford. Recording 17 pass break-ups a year ago and 10 already this season, Adebo can find the ball and make a play. He also has four interceptions in each season, using those receiver ball skills.
