Grant Delpit. Pick Analysis. LSU. 12. player. 48. Scouting Report. Safety

I’m betting the Buccaneers are wishing that the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft went a little differently. Picking 12th, the Bucs has safety Minkah Fitzpatrick snatched right in front of them at 11 by the Dolphins. They then went on to draft defensive tackle Vita Vea instead of All-Pro safety Derwin James, who many thought they would select.

So long story short, Tampa Bay still needs help at safety. Their secondary has been terrible in 2019 so they need all the help they can get. A guy like Grant Delpit will be able to help all over the field.

Delpit can do it all on defense. He plays a lot around the line of scrimmage almost like a linebacker, often blitzing (recorded five sacks in 2018). This year Delpit hasn’t been quite as productive on the stat sheet and has battled some injuries, but his potential at the next level is still off the charts.

From linebacker to deep safety to nickel corner, Delpit can do it and do it well. Right now, the Bucs don’t have anyone that versatile or with that much potential in their secondary. This would be a nice first step for them on their way to reshaping their secondary.
