2020 NFL Draft order: Five teams move up in top 10 picks
The 2020 NFL Draft order was shaken up considerably, especially in the top 10 picks, after a crazy weekend of action in week 13.
The 2020 NFL Draft order is coming into focus with just four weeks remaining in the 2019 NFL season.
Up to this point, the Cincinnati Bengals have been the front-runners for the number one overall pick and the right to pick a new quarterback of the future for Zac Taylor to work with if they so choose.
The Bengals have been somewhat closely followed by the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and Miami Dolphins most of the season, and now more teams are joining the competition for the second overall pick behind Cincinnati.
The Atlanta Falcons joined the nine-loss category over Thanksgiving weekend, and a number of new teams either jumped up or jumped into the top 10 with some of the previous top 10 teams winning their way out of favorable draft position.
Because so many of these teams are close in record, this competition for draft position is going to be riveting over the final month of the season, but here’s where we stand after Sunday’s week 13 action (changes in the top 10 of the order listed in bold).
1. Cincinnati Bengals
2. New York Giants
3. Washington Redskins
4. Miami Dolphins
5. Atlanta Falcons
6. Detroit Lions
7. Arizona Cardinals
8. Jacksonville Jaguars
9. New York Jets
10. Los Angeles Chargers
11. Denver Broncos
12. Philadelphia Eagles
13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
14. Carolina Panthers
15. Cleveland Browns
16. Oakland Raiders
17. Dallas Cowboys
18. Indianapolis Colts
19. Oakland Raiders (from Bears)
20. Tennessee Titans
21. Jacksonville Jaguars (from Rams)
22. Miami Dolphins (from Steelers)
23. Miami Dolphins (from Texans)
24. Kansas City Chiefs
25. Minnesota Vikings
26. Buffalo Bills
27. Green Bay Packers
28. Seattle Seahawks
29. New England Patriots
30. New Orleans Saints
31. San Francisco 49ers
32. Baltimore Ravens
What essentially happened in the top 10 picks is that everyone moved up a spot from 7-11 into the 6-10 spots with the Denver Broncos moving out of the top 10 picks after their victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Three of the top four teams in the order — the Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redskins, and Miami Dolphins — all won their games in week 13 and didn’t move in the draft order.
The New York Giants, on the other hand, were beaten by the Green Bay Packers and continued to solidify their position in the top two picks of this year’s draft with their eighth straight loss.
The Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals also extended ugly losing streaks this past weekend, both losing their fifth game in a row while the Jacksonville Jaguars lost their fourth straight.
Quietly, the Philadelphia Eagles are a train wreck and with three straight losses putting them at 5-7 on the season are one loss away from being included among the top 10 worst teams in the league this season in terms of overall record.
With only two games separating the team with the third overall pick (Washington) and 15th overall pick (Cleveland) the final four weeks of the 2019 NFL season will be fascinating as far as the 2020 NFL Draft order is concerned.
