2020 NFL Draft: Thanksgiving Day first-round 2020 NFL mock draft
7. Detroit Lions: Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio State
The Detroit Lions have one of the best corners in the game in Darius Slay but he alone is not enough to keep this secondary from getting absolutely torched through the air on a weekly basis.
Through 11 games, the Lions are allowing over 275 yards passing per game and are tied for last in the NFL in interceptions with just 4. That makes Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah the clear choice with the seventh pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Okudah is the best defensive back on the number one passing defense in college football and has been lockdown all season long. He’s come down with 3 interceptions in 2019 and makes life extremely frustrating for anybody lining up in front of him.
The 6-foot-1, 200 pounder seems to be the consensus top corner prospect in the draft and for good reason. He has the size, athleticism and playmaking ability that check all of the necessary boxes you could want when scouting a cover man.
His versatile skill set allows him to excel in both man and zone looks, which is so important in today’s NFL. Okudah has starting corner traits and would give the Lions quite the tandem on the boundaries.
