16. Carolina Panthers: Marvin Wilson, DT, FSU

The Carolina Panthers go back-to-back years taking an FSU defender in round one, as I have them selecting Marvin Wilson with the sixteenth pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Wilson has been dominant in the last two seasons with the Seminoles, totaling 8.5 sacks and making 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in 21 games. He pops off the screen when watching him play, as he has rare size and power at the position that you just can’t teach.

Pop on any game from Wilson and it seems like he is always in the backfield and is incredibly disruptive in all facets of the game.

Carolina has improved their pass rush significantly but their run defense has taken a back seat because of it. Adding Wilson to the mix not only helps add even more pressure from the interior, but he is also a space-filler that is excellent against the run and does a great job of filling lanes, forcing backs to change direction.

The Panthers have an aging group of interior defenders on their roster right now and Wilson would provide them with an injection of youth and talent that will ensure that the suddenly scary Carolina front, remains as such going forward.
