2020 NFL Draft: Thanksgiving Day first-round 2020 NFL mock draft
9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
The Jacksonville Jaguars rush defense this season has been an absolute sieve. They allow over 140 yards per game on the ground and have given up 6 runs of over 40+ yards this season. That is two more than anybody else in the NFL.
The team’s current interior linemen have not done their part in filling run lanes and for that reason, I have the Jaguars remedying that problem by taking the best defensive tackle in the 2020 NFL draft class, Derrick Brown.
In three seasons at Auburn, Brown has displayed elite skills against both the run and the pass, on his way to racking up 12.5 sacks and 29.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
Brown is long, wide, intelligent and exactly the type of guy that the Jags could use inside. He is extremely powerful and has an eye-popping quickness for a man of his stature. He does a great job of keeping his eyes up as he is disengaging from his blocks and can get lateral in a hurry, keeping plays in front of him.
Brown is an absolute load if there ever was one, as he stands 6-foot-5 and tips the scales at 318 pounds. Plugging him in the middle of the likes of Calais Campbell, Josh Allen and Yannick Ngakoue would make for a potential resurrection of what was once a feared defense in the NFL.
