Los Angeles Chargers 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft
Round 5, 138th Overall: Michael Pittman Jr., WR, USC
I would not call wide receiver a major position of need for the Los Angeles Chargers, but they could certainly use some legitimate depth at the position. In the fifth round of this mock draft, the Chargers go back to the USC well and bring wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. into the mix.
Pittman is a big wide receiver who tracks the ball and fights for it well in the air. He is also a solid run after catch receiver who has a nice combination of quickness and power after the catch. Despite his size, do not sleep on Pittman’s speed in the open field. He can turn on the burners a bit.
Pittman is a bit of a work in progress, but he could end up being a great compliment to Mike Williams and Keenan Allen for LA.
Round 6, 170th Overall: Stanford Samuels III, CB, Florida State
Stanford Samuels III is a smart and instinctive defensive back who breaks on the ball extremely well. He has long arms and solid athleticism that allows him to compete against most players on the outside. Samuels could grow into a solid player at the next level and could fill a position of need for the Chargers.
Round 7, 202nd Overall: Jonathan Garvin, EDGE, Miami
Last, but not least, the Chargers add Miami edge rusher Jonathan Garvin to the mix. Garvin is a talented player who is the perfect kind of guy to take a shot in the seventh round of the draft.
He is an impact rusher who shows tremendous length and good overall athleticism at the position. Garvin’s technique does need a lot of work, particularly his pad level. He is also relatively slow off of the ball. If Garvin can clean up his game a bit, he could come in and be a productive player on the edge at the next level.
