Miami Dolphins 2020 mock draft: Does Tua injury change approach?
The Miami Dolphins have been “Tanking for Tua” since the season began. With his injury, does the approach change?
It’s no secret that the Miami Dolphins are planning for a major rebuild, with general manager Chris Grier and head coach Brian Flores leading that charge. Their ability to get three first-round picks, and (currently) six picks in the top 70, puts them in prime position to start this major rebuild with a slam dunk in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The plan starts with bringing a franchise quarterback to town. The match between the Dolphins and Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was talked about well before the season started and it became a movement, so much so that some Dolphins fans were mad about their small two-game winning streak.
In the past week, things have certainly changed for this team. With Tua’s severe injury, a big question mark sits over his draft stock and recovery. Could he still go in the top 10? He absolutely can. There’s a pretty good chance he still does.
However, with the injury risk and the injury history, do the Dolphins still kick the tires and take Tua at their spot (fourth overall)? Or, do they adjust their approach and take the best player available?
The argument between taking a quarterback and the best player available is still a difficult decision, and with the draft being a projection, there’s no guarantee either way. However, in this current situation, with three first-round selections, the answer could be both! Let’s take a look at how the Dolphins could do both in this seven-round mock draft.
