Oakland Raiders: Josh Jacobs’ outstanding performance this season
Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs continues to showcase an outstanding performance this season as he continues to shine as a rookie player.
As the Oakland Raiders have a surprisingly strong record of 6-4, one positive outlook from the Raiders this season is their first-round pick and rookie running back Josh Jacobs, who’s been having an impressive performance as his rookie season continues.
Jacobs currently holds the seventh-most rushing yards in the NFL this season (923) with an average of 4.8 yards per carry. He continues to exceed expectations as he’s been able to solidify himself as a credible featured back in the NFL.
After coming out of a three-year college football tenure that included being awarded the SEC Championship Game MVP, the 21 year-old rookie out of Alabama has quickly become a major asset for the Raiders team as a whole.
With Jacobs being a first-round draft pick, some where skeptical at first considering many believed that NFL running backs are somewhat replaceable. However, with his young age and the talent he possesses, Jacobs has a lot of potential to adapt and improve himself in order to become one of the more valuable running backs of the NFL.
With the success he’s had in college football and the outstanding performances he continues to showcase at a professional level, Jacobs may very well continue to succeed as his career rolls on in the near future.
It’s worth noting that Raiders head coach Jon Gruden gave his thoughts on Jacobs not too long ago in an interview with Raiders Wire regarding of his ability as a running back. With his showing of optimism for Jacobs, Gruden himself was very complimentary of the rookie as he even stated that he wouldn’t trade him for any other running back in the NFL.
“We couldn’t be happier with him,” Gruden said (via Raiders Wire). “He’s a great kid, he’s got slashing ability, he can break tackles, he’s got a powerful stiff arm, he’s taking care of the ball, he’s a good receiver and he’s going to get better. We wouldn’t trade him for any backs.”
