87. QB. Georgia. Jake Fromm. 11. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

What is going to happen with the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton?

If you believe everything you hear, we’ve likely seen the last of Cam in a Panthers uniform, which is weird to type, say, or even think about.

If Newton is, in fact, done in Carolina, the Panthers are obviously going to have to go a different direction.

Kyle Allen has been really solid this season in relief of Newton, but I think Jake Fromm would be viewed as an upgrade over Allen in terms of his talent and ability to run Norv Turner’s offense.

The Panthers have enough playmakers that the quarterback does not need to be a play creator, he just needs to be able to get the ball out in a timely fashion and ultimately, let the offense run through Christian McCaffrey.

While Fromm lacks a big-time arm, he’s got a lot of traits NFL teams are going to love.

  • Big-time intangibles
  • Leadership skills
  • Poise under pressure
  • Accuracy
  • Runs pro-style offense
  • Timing on throws
  • Excellent in the red zone and on third downs

While a lot of Draft Twitter is seemingly down on Fromm, I think a smart NFL team is going to see past his lack of big upside in terms of his physical skills and see that he’s probably one of the most pro-ready guy in this class.
