Many talented Cornerbacks will be entering the draft this year. Here is why C.J. Henderson should be the first one off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft.

As the draft position roller coaster goes up and down for players getting prepared for the 2020 NFL Draft, it can be easy to have a different consensus on who the top picks at each position should be week to week. Recency bias is something no fan, sports journalist or general manager can be completely inoculated from.

Maybe a player from a big school had a phenomenal game performance last week? Maybe a contender for second or third best at his position this year got injured? There are a litany of reasons why players rise and fall through the draft rankings every year.

One thing is clear to me, from watching the film and looking at overall production, C.J. Henderson, from the University of Florida should be the first Cornerback drafted this year.

The current consensus is that Jeffery Okudah from Ohio State will be selected first by the Denver Broncos, according to CBS Sports. This is also reiterated by CBS Sports own 2020 draft Rankings, as C.J. Henderson is the fourth-best Cornerback prospect by their accounts.

It is easy to see why many think Okudah will be the first cornerback selected in the 2020 NFL draft. Three interceptions this year (ESPN), plays for a top-five college program (AP Top 25 College Football Rankings), Ohio State is projected to make the College Football playoffs, assuring a national spotlight on the players. Okudah is a talented player who will most likely be drafted in the first round.

But C.J. Henderson is better. His stats prove it, his tape proves it and he can play as a shut-down cornerback. Any NFL team would be lucky to have him on their roster. Here is why he should be the first Cornerback drafted in 2020.
