Alabama. 1. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Linebacker. 829. Dylan Moses

The Todd Walsh-helmed defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars, while solid is still lacking in a few areas. One of those areas is at off-ball linebacker, which has taken a hit since the departure of the Pro-bowler Smith this offseason. In his place, they’ve been fielding rookie Quincey Williams who has done an okay job so far this season. 2018 seventh-round pick Leon Jacobs has done an alright job as well but neither Jacobs or Williams are sufficient enough to make a major difference.

Enter Dylan Moses, the Alabama product was touted as a potential top-10 lock over the summer before suffering a knee injury, sound familiar? While I don’t believe Moses is quite as good as Myles Jack was in 2015, Moses is still a great talent and would elevate the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense. While the risk of re-injury is always a worry, such a thing has not made an impact on guys like Jack or Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith.

Despite the injury, Moses is what you would call a prototypical NFL linebacker. At 6-foot-3, 232 pounds, Moses is an explosive linebacker who can make plays all over the line of scrimmage. While he doesn’t quite possess the range that of Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons, his fast play recognition allows him to quickly diagnose plays. Moses often beats his potential blockers with sheer explosiveness, and when he does locate the ball, he hits the carrier like a ton of bricks.

Although Moses might be more suited as a MIKE linebacker, I still believe he can make a major impact in a 4-3 WILL or SAM type of role. His talents matched with that of Jack would create a truly terrifying linebacker for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
