Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 NFL Draft: Complete 7-round mock draft
With the following seven-round mock draft, let’s try to fix the ills of the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been an interesting team to watch during the 2019 NFL season, to say the least. Like their division rivals in Tennessee, the Jaguars have been a rather hot and cold group so far this season.
At times they’ve looked like they should be competing for a possible wild-card bid, while at other points the Jacksonville Jaguars looked like a bottom-rung team. However, it is worth noting that their wins have come against teams like the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals.
In addition to up and down performance on the field, the Jacksonville Jaguars have also endured some interesting roster changes as well. The weirdness started this offseason when veteran Pro-Bowl linebacker Telvin Smith announced that he was taking a hiatus from football and subsequently left the team.
In Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Nick Foles suffers a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined for most of the season. Other big injuries have included Marcell Dareus, Marquise Lee, James O’Shaunessey, Jeff Swaim and Jake Ryan.
But by far the biggest roster change came from the trade of Jalen Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams before the trade deadline. Like any relationship that overstayed its welcome, both sides decided to part ways that will likely end up being beneficial for everyone involved.
Although, it hasn’t been all doom and gloom for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season. Rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew, who stepped in for the injured Foles, has shown a ton of promise in the handful of games he has played in. Additionally, the Jacksonville Jaguars have seen early returns on guys like defensive end Josh Allen and tackle Jawann Taylor. 2018 second-round wide receiver D.J. Chark has broken out this season, quickly becoming Minshew’s favorite target.
Having said that, the Jacksonville Jaguars still have several holes that need to be addressed if they want to recapture their 2017 form. There are several key free agents they need to contend with such as defensive end Yannick Ngakuoue, defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, tight end Ben Koyack and wide receiver Keelan Cole. Additionally, guys like Calais Campbell could become a cap casualty due to age.
Note: The following mock draft was made with the notion that the Jacksonville Jaguars will not re-sign Ngakuoue or Dareus. It was also constructed using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Simulator.
