LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire took his 2020 NFL draft stock to the next level with his incredible performance against Alabama.
There was high-level 2020 NFL draft talent all over the field on Saturday when LSU took home a victory against Alabama. These are two of the most talented teams in the entire nation and both have players who will be among the highest selected in the 2020 NFL Draft.
LSU quarterback Joe Burrow may have won a Heisman Trophy on Saturday, while Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa played extremely well under difficult circumstances. Out of all the players who showed out in this big-time matchup, nobody improved their 2020 NFL draft stock more than LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
We talked about Edwards-Helaire before the Alabama/LSU game and he came out and put on a show on Saturday night. In that game, CEH carried the ball 20 times for 103 yards and three touchdowns (5.2 yards per carry average). He also caught nine passes for 77 yards and a touchdown through the air.
Edwards-Helaire was arguably the most productive and consistent player on the field on Saturday night, tearing apart the vaunted Alabama defense as both a runner and a receiver.
CEH is extremely quick and elusive in open space, showing the ability to make defenders miss with ease at all times. He shows great instincts, showing the natural ability to knife through the defense and pick up extra yardage in traffic. He is quick through the hole and shows tremendous contact balance. Edwards-Helaire is an extremely tough runner who rarely goes down after the first contact and does a great job of fighting for extra yards.
He is an efficient and naturally productive runner who does a great job of making the most of his abilities. Add in his ability to make an impact in the passing game and it is easy to see how CEH has a bright future at the next level.

Even with his great performance against Alabama, Edwards-Helaire is unlikely to rise far up 2020 NFL Draft boards. Many teams will be scared off by his lack of size, but I am here to tell you that they are making a mistake. Simply put, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a rock-solid football player who will be able to make an impact at the next level. He is undoubtedly a late-round 2020 NFL draft prospect to watch.
