Round 2, No. 35 Overall: Creed Humphrey, OL, Oklahoma

Now it’s time for the New York Jets to build the offensive line and protect quarterback Sam Darnold. Even if they get someone like Brandon Scherff in free agency, that’s just one player. One player doesn’t make all the difference on an offensive line.

A good start is adding someone like Creed Humphrey to the mix. Humphrey could come in and play center right away with his tough demeanor. He’s a powerful interior lineman who would build trust with Darnold right away.

Round 3, No. 67 Overall: Trey Adams, OT, Washington

Finding someone to protect Darnold’s blindside is next on the checklist. While Chuma Edoga is a nice player with plenty of upside going forward, the Jets need to add extra help to field two solid tackles.

Trey Adams is a great value in the third round, and he may not be available here in April, but for now, he goes here to the Jets. Adams is a very good pass protector and has improved his physicality in the run game this year. Injuries are the only question with his game, and in the third round, taking a chance is a good call.

Round 3, No. 70 Overall: Tyler Johnson, WR, Minnesota

Now that the offensive line is addressed, it’s time to find some weapons for Darnold. Robby Anderson could be on the way out in free agency, so finding a number one target is a big deal.

Tyler Johnson is up there with the top senior wide receivers in the class. He’s a superb route runner with the ability to win in contested situations. In a deep receiver class, Johnson is great value here in the third round.
