The New York Jets are in need of a rebuild around franchise quarterback Sam Darnold, and this 2020 mock draft starts with the offensive line.

The New York Jets had plenty of excitement heading into the 2019 season, even after hiring an offensive-minded head coach that should have brought change and helped quarterback Sam Darnold more. That didn’t come to fruition, and the Jets now sit at 1-7 after a brutal loss to the “tanking” Dolphins.

Darnold has been maddeningly inconsistent this season since his return. He came out and looked fantastic against the Cowboys, but he’s had some disastrous turnovers of late and his mechanics have gone south.

That isn’t all on him though. Part of that also falls on a poorly constructed offensive line, and another part is the play calling from head coach Adam Gase. Gase hasn’t done well to make things easier on his quarterback, and that has him on the hot seat. He might not last the season.

The Jets need to get the rebuild right heading into the offseason, and it starts by fixing the offensive line, bringing in some better names in the secondary, and getting Darnold some more weapons.

They currently has $53 million in cap space, but they can get it near $100 million with some cuts across the board. Chris Harris and Byron Jones are some big names to watch at corner if the Jets want to break the bank, and Brandon Scherff is a name to watch along the offensive line.

The main rebuild needs to come through the 2020 NFL Draft, and the New York Jets currently have five picks in the top 100, which is a very good start for them. Let’s see who the Jets could take come April.
