Chicago Bears 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: How to fix this mess
No, not that Lamar Jackson. This Lamar Jackson is a big and physical cornerback prospect who is making plays on the field for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Jackson is listed at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and he uses his size to overwhelm opposing receivers consistently.
Jackson shows solid man-to-man coverage skills and knows how to make a play on the ball. He is also an extremely physical player who is not afraid to rough up a receiver at the line of scrimmage or come up and make a play against the run.
Jackson does lack some lateral quickness that could be an issue at the next level when defending wide receivers. However, Jackson could be an exciting defensive weapon as a tight end stopper for the Chicago Bears. Regardless, he is a good, solid football player who could make an impact in their defensive backfield.
Ezra Cleveland is an athletic offensive line prospect who could grow into an interesting player at the next level. He gets off of the ball well and moves his feet quickly in both pass protection and as a run blocker. Cleveland does have some functional strength issues that will have to improve to reach his upside, but he is a player worth taking a shot on late in the draft.
Jon Runyan has been the starting left tackle at Michigan for the last two years. He has proven to be a solid starter for the team and has a chance to make an impact at the next level as well.
Runyan moves his feet well and shows rock-solid technique in pass protection. He does a great job of remaining patient in pass pro, reacting to what the defender is doing as opposed to making the first move.
There are some functional strength concerns here with Runyan as well, but he is a feisty competitor who can typically hold his own. Whether Runyan continues to be a tackle or kicks inside at the next level, he is a solid offensive lineman who could become a dependable player up front for the Chicago Bears.
