5. Chicago Bears

If any team in the NFL is ‘desperate’ for Cam Newton, I would say it’s probably the Chicago Bears.

They have a defense built for a current championship window, nice weapons at the skill positions on offense, and a quarterback in Mitch Trubisky who is ruining it all.

Trubisky’s regression and incompetence out there is frustrating for Bears fans, who rightly have high expectations after the team’s ascent under Matt Nagy.

Now everyone’s just fed up with the terrible QB play in Chicago, and it wouldn’t shock me to see Trubisky get some Blake Bortles-like treatment this offseason and have to re-shape his image as someone’s backup to get another shot in the league.

I am not sure how Newton and Nagy would work together, but from purely thinking about this in terms of inserting a healthy Cam Newton into the Bears lineup, this move makes sense.

This team needs something at QB desperately, and they don’t have a first-round pick to solve their problems. The Bears could be aggressive in pursuing Newton if he’s made available just with the nature of their situation right now.
