1. Oakland Raiders

We all know Jon Gruden loves collecting quarterbacks.

We also know he is willing to take on big stars and big personalities, and we’ve seen the Raiders are also willing to cut ties when things don’t work out with those big personalities.

Cam Newton is (was?) a superstar, and I’m sure Gruden holds him in high regard.

You can also imagine that Newton would have interest in signing a new contract in Vegas where his income will be tax-free.

There’s no indication right now the Raiders would want to move on from Derek Carr, although I think they would love the chance to take a guy like Jalen Hurts in the draft. With that said, Newton would be an upgrade over Derek Carr from a physical standpoint and he’s also accomplished a lot more in this league.

Would the Raiders be so bold to pull this trigger?

Maybe. Gruden is going to be entering year three of his 10-year contract and may feel the urgency to compete now. If Newton can get healthy, he gives you a chance to do just that.
