2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock draft with four QBs early
Last offseason, the New York Giants shocked the world when they traded away superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham. Losing Beckham left a massive hole for the Giants on the offensive side of the ball and while they do have some interesting offensive playmakers, New York still has needs at the wide receiver position.
Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones has shown some promise this season. Jones was a controversial draft choice, but he has shown some impressive toughness and arm talent that gives him promise going forward. However, the Giants lack a true playmaker on the outside to pair him with. Having Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard around obviously helps, but Jones needs that true number one receiver to reach his full potential.
In this 2020 NFL draft scenario, the Giants replace Beckham with Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who is the top receiver in a loaded class at the position.
Jeudy has it all on the outside. He is a crafty and precise route runner who uses his incredible short-area quickness and acceleration to create separation against any coverage. Jeudy can create space against any defensive back in man-to-man coverage and has a knack for finding open space against zone coverage.
Once he separates, Jeudy plucks the ball out of the air with ease. He has extremely soft hands and impeccable body control in the air. He does not find himself in them often, but Jeudy also wins most of his contested-catch situations.
After the catch, Jeudy uses his incredible short-area quickness and acceleration to make defenders miss in space. He stops and starts on a dime and gets back up to full speed quickly. Jeudy also shows explosive speed in space, easily running past many defenders who once had a great angle on him.
Jerry Jeudy is a dynamic playmaker who is going to be a star at the next level. The Giants could go in many different directions here, but they cannot go wrong with taking the best offensive playmaker in the 2020 NFL draft class.
