2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock draft with four QBs early
Tee Higgins does not run many routes, does not create much separation and is not much of a threat to make plays after the catch. That being said, he is a big and strong receiver who has a huge catch radius and is fantastic in contested-catch situations.
Higgins is never going to make an impact on the game in a variety of ways, but he is elite at what he does best. The New Orleans Saints need a receiver who they can count on besides Michael Thomas and while Higgins is far from a perfect player, he could certainly make some plays in jump ball situations for Drew Brees and company.
Xavier McKinney just feels like a player Bill Belichick would fall in love with. Not only does he come from Nick Saban’s Alabama program, but McKinney is also an extremely athletic and versatile defensive back who can impact the game in many ways.
McKinney can come up and make plays against the run, is an effective blitzer, is a great ball-hawking deep safety and has obvious man-to-man coverage ability. McKinney can take on tight ends, running backs and even slot receivers in man coverage. His well-rounded skill-set would be a perfect fit in New England, as Belichick would have a lot of fun using him in a variety of ways.
With the final pick of this mock draft, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves some upside at the cornerback position. Jaylon Johnson is a long and athletic cornerback prospect who shines in press coverage.
He is tough and smart at the line of scrimmage, using a strong punch and good overall hand usage to stunt receivers off of the snap. He is also fluid in coverage and shows tremendous natural ball skills. Johnson is an extremely talented defensive back who could come in and be an immediate weapon for an already loaded 49ers defense.
