LB/S. Clemson. Isaiah Simmons. 7. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 45

Garett Bolles has been a disaster for the Denver Broncos at the left tackle position and they need to figure out a way to improve their offensive line situation. If Chris Harris Jr. leaves in free agency, cornerback stands out as a major position of need as well. However, in this 2020 NFL draft scenario, the Broncos take the best player available, bringing in Clemson defensive superstar Isaiah Simmons.

Simmons is one of the most interesting players in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is an absolute athletic freak on the defensive side of the ball who consistently finds himself around the ball and in position to make a play. Simmons is a bit of a tweener prospect who does not have a set position. However, who cares if you classify him as a linebacker or a safety? This guy is simply a playmaker who is built perfectly for the modern NFL.

Simmons shows great toughness around the line of scrimmage and has impressive natural block shed ability. He is a great tackler in space and does a fantastic job of creating penetration and making plays behind the line of scrimmage. Simmons is also an impact player in the blitz game and can create pressure on the passer when asked to do so.

Perhaps most importantly, Simmons shows a ton of natural ability in coverage. He is tremendous in man-to-man coverage, showing a great combination of quickness, athleticism and physicality that allows him to compete against a variety of players. Simmons is the perfect kind of player to match up against difficult to defend tight ends at the next level and could even become an impact defender in the slot.

Simply put, Isaiah Simmons is a fantastic defensive player who has massive upside at the next level. The Broncos have many needs on both sides of the ball, but Simmons is simply too good of a player for them to pass up here.
