Third round (from Seahawks)

The Raiders should look to address the linebacker position in free agency and they could very well be in play for a guy like Dylan Moses out of Alabama in the first round, but there are some nice players projected to go in the mid-rounds of this class, including Cal’s Evan Weaver.

When you talk about players with intensity in college football, Weaver has to be near the top of the list. Not only is he built well at 6-foot-3, 235 pounds, but Weaver is just constantly around the football and is posting absolute video-game tackling numbers this season with 127 total stops in just eight games.

Yikes.

Weaver’s production has earned him a spot on the Bednarik semifinalist list. He’s got nine tackles for loss an two forced fumbles to go along with his 127 tackles and had a pair of interceptions last season with 155 total tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss.

This is another guy I think the Raiders’ brain trust will fall in love with because of his love for the game.

Recap

  1. Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma
  2. Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
  3. Shaun Wade, DB, Ohio State
  4. Shane Lemieux, OG, Oregon
  5. Evan Weaver, LB, Cal

This draft class would be quite an exciting start to the Las Vegas era for Oakland. It would give them an incredibly dynamic offense with a quarterback who keeps things on schedule but also is capable of ripping off big plays deep downfield and with his legs.

It would give them a big-time speed threat at receiver to move around the formation, and three guys who could start day one in round three with Wade, Lemieux, and Weaver.

This could be a stellar class for the Raiders, even if it comes at the expense of Derek Carr.
