Year two of the Jon Gruden era has gone much better than year one, but what will year one of the Las Vegas Raiders era look like? It’s mock draft time.

By the time the 2020 NFL Draft rolls around, the Oakland Raiders will be the Las Vegas Raiders and they will essentially be hosting the NFL Draft in their new hometown.

Year one of the Jon Gruden era in Oakland was rocky to say the least. Year two has gone quite a bit better than I think most people who aren’t Raiders fans anticipated.

Although the Raiders have lost in blowout fashion in a few games this year, they’ve also been much more competitive than expected in games on the road against the Indianapolis Colts and on the road against DeShaun Watson and the Houston Texans.

The Raiders were able to beat the Colts, but they came up just short of beating Houston.

With a 3-4 record heading into the final nine games of the 2019 season, what is this team? Where are they going?

Is this Derek Carr’s team when the Raiders move to Las Vegas? Will the Raiders use one of their five top 100 picks (two first-rounders) on the quarterback position?

There are still a variety of other needs on this roster that the Raiders have attempted to address with a wide variety of free agent acquisitions, but is Carr’s steady play what Gruden wants going forward, or is he going to look to make a splash?

Carr, for what it’s worth, has played pretty well this season, at least statistically. He’s completing over 72 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and just four interceptions, but the Raiders rank in the middle of the pack in the NFL in passing despite one of the best pass protecting offensive lines in the NFL.

With such a strong running game and offensive line, the time could be now for the Raiders to make a splash at the QB position. The 2020 NFL Draft could be the best spot to do it.

After so many rumors that the Raiders would be in the market for a quarterback in the top two rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft, let’s explore a mock draft scenario where the Las Vegas Raiders kick off a new era with a new QB.
