Cleveland Browns 2020 mock draft: Back to the drawing board
David Njoku has been on IR and the lack of a pass catching presence at tight end has hurt the Browns more than anyone cares to realize at this point.
Although Ricky Seals-Jones and Demetrius Harris have combined for four touchdowns to this point in the Browns’ season, a seam-stretching mismatch at the tight end position with athletic ability has been missing.
Enter Mitchell Wilcox, who is more of the big-slot type than the in-line type at tight end.
Even in combination with Njoku, Wilcox would give the Browns another man coverage beater at the TE position who can win with strong hands, exceptional athleticism, and physical dominance over linebackers and safeties.
RECAP
This draft class, in combination with whatever else the aggressive John Dorsey would do with trades and free agency, would be outstanding for Cleveland.
They could look to some interior defensive line help on the free agent market again after trying to sign Mike Daniels, and they could also add more pieces to the back seven of their defense.
The Browns are not done building this thing, but they’re pretty darn close to having too good of a roster not to win 10 games. One more offseason, and the team that went 0-16 in 2017 should be on their way to the playoffs for a nice-sized window.
