2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock draft includes Jalen Hurts in the top 15

The Eagles need help at corner. They need it bad and they need it now. Most people wouldn’t have expected the Eagles to have a pick in the top half of the 2020 NFL Draft at this juncture, but due to the play of their secondary, the Eagles have lost a few tough games.

Even if the Eagles do address the position prior to the trade deadline, they will still need a viable, young, long-term answer at corner, with their young guys not cutting it to this point. No matter where they draft in the first round in this draft, I’d be shocked if it was anything but corner.

Here the Eagles snag a long, physical corner with good ball skills from a background of playing offense. Trevon Diggs lines up outside and inside for the Crimson Tide and can hang with the biggest and fastest receivers in the nation.

Diggs is physical at the line of scrimmage, using his length to knock receivers off of their spot. He is athletic enough to turn and stay with the receiver and has great long speed to keep pace and use his length and ball skills to make a play.

A bit of a work in progress, Diggs is still learning certain aspects of the position and is improving in zone coverage. He will need to improve as a tackler, but he is willing and a very talented all-around player.

The Eagles could use some length and physicality out of the corner spot at the line of scrimmage. Diggs has the potential to be one of the best in the league and is immediately an upgrade over what Philly has out there right now.

A trade for a veteran and the selection of Diggs would put the Eagles secondary in much better hands for the years to come. With good coaching and guidance, Diggs should develop into a star that Philly will be happy to have.
