Previewing the college football matchup of the weekend between No. 3 Ohio State and No. 13 Wisconsin.

In one of the most interesting matchups of the weekend, the third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will play host to No. 13 Wisconsin. This will be an important Big Ten matchup between two of the best teams in the nation. Ohio State has been rolling along all season, while Wisconsin is looking to bounce back from an embarrassing loss last week.

The then sixth-ranked Badgers were not able to take care of business on the road last week, falling 24-23 to an unimpressive Illinois team. Wisconsin lost a couple of key turnovers late in that game that ended up causing the loss. They simply cannot have those kinds of mistakes against this loaded Ohio State squad.

Ohio State has been one of the best offensive teams in all of college football this season. They have scored an incredible 49.7 points per game, the third-highest total in FBS college football. The Buckeyes are led by quarterback Justin Fields who has been absolutely incredible all season long. Fields is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, showing the ability to dominate with both his arm and his legs. Fields is among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season.

Ohio State also has one of the best rushing attacks in all of college football. Fields is obviously a huge threat to run, but running back J.K. Dobbins has quietly put together an incredible season as well. Dobbins is averaging an impressive 7.07 yards per carry average going into this game against Wisconsin, which is the most of any player in major college football with at least 100 carries., Backup running back Master Teague has also been great this season.

While Ohio State has faced some tough defenses this year, this matchup against Wisconsin will be their toughest test yet. Led by a strong front seven, the Badgers have the top-ranked scoring defense in the nation, allowing a minuscule 7.6 points per game this season. Now, Wisconsin has not exactly faced a murder’s row of explosive offenses, but they have a smart and physical defense that could realistically keep the Ohio State offense in check.

Wisconsin may have the best scoring defense in the nation, but Ohio State is not far behind. The Buckeyes rank second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing only eight points per contest. Chase Young is an absolute monster up front and the Buckeyes have arguably the best secondary in the entire nation. Keeping Wisconsin running back and Heisman contender Jonathan Taylor in check will be difficult, but Ohio State has as good of a chance as anybody at doing so.

The Buckeyes are easy favorites in this game, but the combination of Wisconsin’s defense and their rushing attack gives them a chance to pull off the upside. If Taylor can gain consistent yardage on the ground, Wisconsin may be able to keep that explosive Ohio State offense on the sidelines enough to come away with the victory. Keeping their defense fresh will be the key to this game.
