Philadelphia Eagles: Five players to target before the trade deadline
After a horrible loss in week 7, let’s take a look at 5 guys the Philadelphia Eagles could acquire before the trade deadline to help right the ship.
After their worst loss in recent memory to the rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to hold onto their season kind of like the picture at the top of the page. If they suffer a couple of more bad losses and a successful, playoff-bound season could be out of reach.
But in the play that is pictured above, now former-Eagle defender Orlando Scandrick managed to bring Dallas receiver Randall Cobb down short of the goal line. Can the Philadelphia Eagles do the same in regards to their season and save it from the brink of disaster? That remains to be seen.
If they are to do that, it’s going to take a lot of changes. Changes in playcalling, effort, attitude, game planning and maybe most importantly, personnel. The Eagles roster, the way it is currently constructed, is not going to compete for another Super Bowl title.
Howie Roseman is well-known for working the phone lines and trying to acquire talented players to make this football team better. Many of his key additions helped bring Philly their first-ever Super Bowl win just two seasons ago.
However, this is not the same team from 2017-18. There are some glaring holes and weaknesses in this Eagles lineup that will need to be addressed if they even want to think about competing in the NFC. Acquiring new players certainly won’t solve all the team’s issues, but it is a necessary step if they want to be taken seriously as a legitimate playoff contender this season.
I will put on my Howie Roseman hat for a bit and outline five players who the Philadelphia Eagles should look to acquire before next Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
