2020 NFL Draft: Two-round mock draft featuring Joe Burrow going No. 2
The Philadelphia Eagles are an extremely talented team with one obvious flaw. Their cornerbacks cannot defend wide receivers. The Eagles have struggled against the passing attack all season long and simply need to address the cornerback position over the offseason. Taking anything other than a cornerback in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft would be crazy.
Shaun Wade has primarily defended the slot in college, but that has more to do with the talent surrounding him in the Ohio State secondary than an indication of his ability. At 6-foot-1, 194 pounds, Wade has more than enough size to play outside at the next level. Not that it matters much, the Eagles just need guys in the secondary who can cover, and boy can Wade cover.
He is extremely quick and decisive in coverage, reading the quarterback’s eyes extremely well, batting down would-be completions with ease. He is also a tough and aggressive player who is not afraid to step up and compete against the run. His physical toughness always stands out and he shows impressive tackling skills in open space.
The Philadelphia Eagles desperately need to improve their talent at the cornerback position. Taking Wade would undoubtedly be a step in the right direction.
