Isaiah Simmons. player. Pick Analysis. LB/S. Clemson. 11. 48. Scouting Report

I strongly considered giving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a quarterback here as well. The 2020 NFL draft class is loaded with interesting players at the quarterback position, but with Tagovailoa, Burrow and Herbert now off of the board, taking a quarterback here feels like a reach. Instead, the Bucs snag one of the most talented and interesting defensive players in the 2020 NFL draft class.

Simmons is an absolute freak on the defensive side of the ball. Whether you want to call him a safety or a linebacker, this guy is a consistent playmaker who is going to make an immediate impact at the next level.

Simmons is incredibly quick and explosive on the field, using his fantastic natural speed and athleticism to make plays all over the place. He shows fantastic range and ball skills in coverage and is a reliable tackler in space. Simmons is also an incredible weapon when asked to blitz, finding gaps and exploding through them to create pressure on the passer.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent a first-round pick in last year’s draft at linebacker, bringing in Devin White to lead their defense from the middle linebacker position. It might seem odd to draft another linebacker in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but Simmons is such a unique and special player, it would be a pick that makes sense for them.

Simmons can play all over the field and will be productive no matter where you put him. He would be a great pick for Tampa Bay if they end up picking in this range.
