If there is anything the New York Giants are missing defensively, it’s a top-tier pass rusher. Every successful defense seems to have one. Last season the Giants ranked 30th in sacks and are still struggling to reach the passer.

That’s where Khalid Kareem, a defensive end out of Notre Dame, comes in.

Kareem started all 13 games for the Fighting Irish his junior season last year, fighting his way to eight quarterback hurries, 10.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks on a stacked defensive front. He also swatted five balls in 2018.

Kareem uses his long arms and strength to his advantage, ripping and swimming through tackles to get to the quarterback. He gets low and drives his legs to burst past the tackles. Kareem is no doubt NFL ready and I believe he will start day one wherever he’s drafted.

Something that makes Kareem stand out is his speed. Even at 6-foot-4, 267 pounds, he can still fiercely shoot off at the snap of the ball. His quickness will likely be on display at the Combine next spring. Kareem was known for making big plays when they mattered most.

After trading away Olivier Vernon to the Browns this offseason, the Giants are starting to notice his absence. Kareem could grow into a player who could replicate that production for the New York Giants.
