Josh Rosen, Miami Dolphins

A trade to the Kansas City Chiefs sure would be a welcomed sight for Josh Rosen right about now. The Arizona Cardinals traded up in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft to select Rosen, only to go and take a different quarterback with the first pick of the 2019 Draft and kicking Rosen out the door after one short season.

Where does Rosen end up after his debacle in Arizona? Well, with the tanking Miami Dolphins, of course! Miami gave up a second-round pick for the first-rounder from the year prior and still opted for Ryan Fitzpatrick at the start of the year.

After an abysmal start of their own, the Dolphins decided to give Rosen a shot. Although he has appeared in five of the team’s six games to this point, Rosen has just three starts. In his time on the field, Rosen showed glimpses of his potential but still struggled to get anything going with the talent around him.

So after a now 0-6 start, it is apparently back to Fitzpatrick for Miami. For a team that is clearly in “rebuild mode” to be generous, they are undoubtedly eyeing quarterbacks in the next two drafts. They took a flier on Rosen this season, and apparently, they haven’t liked what they’ve seen.

While Rosen hasn’t been incredibly impressive on the field to this point in his career in Arizona or Miami, he has shown glimmers of hope that first-round talent is still in there somewhere. Is the Kansas City offense what it takes to bring it out? It certainly couldn’t hurt.

Giving Rosen the weapons that the Chiefs have would be an opportunity for people around the league to fairly evaluate the young quarterback. Is he really just a miss as a former top-10 draft pick, or has he not been put in positions to succeed to this point in his career?

The Chiefs could take a chance on the latter being the case, and give up minimal compensation for the clearly expandable young quarterback. He isn’t the most proven guy at the position, but he has the potential to be very good in this league in the right system and would come at a low price. And if for whatever reason the Dolphins decide that they would rather hold onto Rosen, Fitzpatrick wouldn’t be a bad option either.
