2019: Nick Bosa, DE, Ohio State

Just two years after drafting Solomon Thomas with the third overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the 49ers had to come back to the well for edge help, but this time they probably feel like they got the best player in the entire draft class after missing out on Myles Garrett in 2017.

Nick Bosa is a cornerstone type of prospect for a team, and the 49ers are finding that out rather quickly.

Not only is Bosa the ideal type of edge player from the standpoint that he has a well-rounded game, he also has some elite traits as a player that make him the kind of playmaker off the edge offenses are going to have to account for all year long.

The fact that the 49ers also have Dee Ford on the other side of the field and the aforementioned Solomon Thomas able to come in as a rotational player makes things even better for this 49ers defense right now.

Bosa is a combination of high effort and intensity, speed, power, and advanced technique for his age. Just like his brother coming out back in 2016, Nick is proving to be the type of difference maker for the 49ers that makes the difference between having a good defense and having a great one.
