Round 1, Pick 16: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson

Most people would assume that the Jaguars would replace Jalen Ramsey with one of their top two picks, but the only corner I think is worth one of these selections is Jefferey Okudah and I am anticipating him already being taken.

Not to mention the team’s front office has shown a history of valuing best player available over need, so in this Jaguars 2020 mock draft, they stick to that trend and take linebacker Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson with their second first-round selection.

The Jaguars linebacker group has struggled in 2019 and that includes Myles Jack, who the team gave a four-year $57 million contract extension to back in August.

The team is 25th in the NFL against the run and the backers are a big point of blame.

Simmons would be an immediate help to the unit, as he is stout against the run, uses his length (listed at 6’3”) to his advantage, is as reliable a tackler as you will find at the position in this class and he is truly a freak athlete.

A true sideline-to-sideline player that runs hot at all times.

Simmons would provide a blend of attitude, size, speed and tackling ability that the Jags could really use right now. His addition may even take some of the pressure off of Jack, so he can get back to his 2018 form.
